Burrow signs record-breaking $275 million contract with Cincinnati Bengals

Deal makes Burrow highest-paid player in NFL history

Quarterback's new contract includes $40 million signing bonus and $219 million guaranteed

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Bengals have signed quarterback Joe Burrow to a record-breaking $275 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

The five-year deal includes a $40 million signing bonus and $219 million guaranteed, according to sources familiar with the contract.

Burrow's new contract surpasses the previous record-holder, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who signed a five-year, $262.5 million contract in 2020.

The Bengals made the announcement on Thursday, just days after Burrow led the team to its first Super Bowl appearance in 33 years.

"We are thrilled to extend Joe's contract," Bengals president Mike Brown said in a statement. "He is a special player and a great leader for our team. We believe he will continue to lead us to success in the years to come."

Burrow, 25, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. He has quickly become one of the most exciting and promising quarterbacks in the league.

In his first two seasons with the Bengals, Burrow has passed for 9,334 yards, 68 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions. He has also led the Bengals to a 22-11 record, including a 10-7 mark in 2022.

Burrow's new contract is a sign of the Bengals' commitment to building a championship team around him. The Bengals have a young and talented roster, and Burrow is expected to be the face of the franchise for many years to come.
