The Detroit Pistons and Nerlens Noel agreed to a contract buyout on Monday opening the door for the 28-year-old center to join a new team.

Noel has been linked to the Mavericks for several weeks, and the two sides finally came to an agreement on a deal that will send Noel to Dallas in exchange for a second-round pick.

Noel is a veteran center who has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Pistons over the course of his career.

He is a solid defender who can also contribute on the offensive end, and he should be a good addition to the Mavericks' rotation.

The Mavericks are currently 22-23 this season and are in eighth place in the Western Conference.
