The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed the son of Fatah leader Zakaria Zubeidi during a counterterrorism operation in the northern West Bank early Wednesday, according to Palestinian officials. The IDF said it was investigating the incident.

The Palestinian Health Ministry identified the slain militant as Abed Zubeidi, 22. He was killed during an Israeli raid in the village of Kafr Qud, near Jenin.

The IDF said it was conducting a counterterrorism operation in Kafr Qud when its forces came under fire from armed Palestinians. The IDF said it returned fire and killed three armed Palestinians. The IDF said it was investigating the incident.
