Cavaliers Bow to Celtics' Resurgence after Game 3 Loss
The Boston Celtics returned to their winning ways on Monday night, dominating the Cleveland Cavaliers 106-93 in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference semifinals series. The victory gives Boston a commanding 3-1 lead and puts them on the cusp of reaching the conference finals for the third consecutive year.
Jayson Tatum led the charge for the Celtics, pouring in a game-high 33 points while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out four assists. Jaylen Brown added 19 points, and Marcus Smart chipped in with 16 points and a team-high nine assists.
The Cavaliers, who had evened the series at 1-1 with a win in Game 3, were led by Darius Garland's 25 points. Jarrett Allen added 20 points and 15 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Celtics' balanced attack and suffocating defense.
The Cavaliers started the game strong, jumping out to an early lead. However, the Celtics gradually chipped away at the deficit and took control of the game in the second quarter. Boston outscored Cleveland 33-18 in the period, taking a 53-42 lead into halftime.
The Celtics extended their lead in the third quarter, building a double-digit advantage that they would hold on to for the rest of the game. The Cavaliers made a brief run in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late. Boston sealed the victory with a 10-0 run in the final minutes.
With the win, the Celtics are now just one game away from advancing to the Eastern Conference finals. Game 5 of the series will be played on Wednesday night in Boston. If the Celtics win, they will face the winner of the Milwaukee Bucks-Miami Heat series.
